Paragliding

Paragliding :-

Riding the thermals and sailing the blue sky like the Himalyan Eagle can be thrilling experience. Paragliding facilities are available at Solang Nallah and Marhi. Tourist is advised to undertake the sport only through the operators who are registered with the Tourism Department. Also insist on the pilot showing you his registration license issued by the District Administration. Paragliding is organized in Kullu valley throughout the year at Solang Valley, located 14 kms from Manali and other locations like Marhi, Fatru, Bijli Mahadev etc.

Skiing

Skiing :-

Rohtang Pass and Solang Nallah offer a variety of slopes for skiers. Some easy runs are provided for beginners who can take a course or just hire an instructor for a short while from the directorate of Mountaineering and Allied sports or a one of the other agencies registered with department of Tourism. Skiing facilities are available throughout the year at Rohtang. Expert skiers can enjoy helisking during the winter months for which they may contact the department of Tourism. For many years my team and I have been trekking in the Indian Himalaya. Now a great opportunity exists for You to share in our knowledge of some of the most fascinating areas of this country - the Kullu, Zanskar, Ladakh and Spiti Valley.

Rafting

Rafting :-

River- rafting in Manali is offered by private operators at Pirdi near Kullu where a water sports centre has been set up to provide the rafting services in Manali for the tourists. Rafting in Manali is available on stretches of the River Beas, where rapids of high grades can be negotiated. Rafting in kullu Manali provides an exhilarating interlude fro enthusiasts. kayaking is possible at Pandoh Dam on the way to Mandi. Water rafting in Kullu Manali is done on river Beas from Pirdi (4 kms ahead of Kullu town) down to Jhiri, on a stretch of approximately 14 kms. (Period Apr 15th-Jun end). The journey takes nearly one & half hour consisting of rapids from grade II & III.

Mountaineering

Mountaineering :-

Mountaineering Institute in Manali is located 3 kms. From down-town on the Left Bank of River Beas. It provides training facilities for basic and advance climbing both for Indian nationals and foreigners Mountaineering Institute in Manali organizes basic & advance training courses in, trekking, mountaineering, skiing and water sports. Skiing and trekking equipments can be hired from Mountaineering Institute by booking in advance. Tourists can visit an interesting showroom of Mountaineering Institute. This institute also conducts other adventurous sports activities like high altitude trekking, minor mountaineering, and rock-climbing, skiing, and high altitude rescue and relief courses. The institute has sufficient lodging and boarding arrangements and equipment can be hired for trekking purposes.

Jeepsafari

Jeep Safari :-

The Jeep Safari takes you through one of the highest mountain highways of the world from the Manali across the Rohtang Pass to move through Lahaul to Leh, Ladakh after crossing the passes of Baralacha La ( 4830 meters), Lacha Lung La (5065 meters) and Tanglung La ( 5360 meters). It is spectacular drive through an austere and awe inspiring landscape. One can also drive through the rugged moonscape of Spiti over the Kunzum pass ( 4551 meters) to see the Tabo, The "Ajanta of the Himalyas" and Spiti Valley. Mountains are a unique ecosystem. With all their ecological and cultural excellences, they seem to be predestined for tourism. Zones of refugia, they offer ideal conditions for rest, relaxation and recreation for mankind. Man has sought them for higher and nobler pursuits of life.

Trekking

Comfortable walking shoes with a good grip on the ankles. Water proof warm jacket.Woolen / tennis scocks and stockings. Sunglasses, headgear, rucksack and other bags too if you plan to hire porters and ponies. Water- Bottle, Swiss army Knife, Sleeping Bag and foam ground sheet, Gloves, umbrella, rope, Medical and first aid equipment. Photographic Equipment, Torch and batteries, tent, Compass, Binoculars, cooking Equipments, food and rations.Fresh Fruits, vegitables, meat and milk are rarely in short supply along the trails apart from higher reaches and parts of the trans Himalyas.
